About the Estate and Wines

What's the story of your farm?

This is a family wine project with more than half a century of history, located in Alenquer — Lisbon region —, with true producer-bottler status, focusing on the quality of its vineyards and wines. Based on the values of Hard Work and Love for the Land, we produce quality wines from our own grapes, which thus express the best of our land and our identity.
What types of wines do you produce?

We produce red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines, all from the estate's grapes, vinified and bottled in the winery on the farm.
How are your wines produced?

Our wines are produced with great care and respect for nature. The old cellar of Quinta da Vassala was extended and modernised, and today it has updated capacity and technology that allow us to use the best winemaking methods, in order to enhance the quality of the grapes, obtaining high-quality wines, which are bottled on the property.
Ageing in wood is done in a cellar with barrels of national, French and American oak.
What makes your wines special?

Our wines are special because they reflect the passion and dedication of a family involved in every stage of production. Promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly practices, the wines are produced from grape varieties that best adapt to our 'terroir'.

The property is located east and at the base of the Montejunto mountain range and is therefore influenced by the microclimate resulting from this barrier to Atlantic winds, which, combined with a poor and low-yielding soil structure and the quality of the installed grape varieties, provides a high standard of quality for the grapes produced here.
What are the grape varieties?

The red grape varieties, which represent 80% of the vineyard area, are divided into Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Castelão, Merlot, Alicante Bouschet, and Syrah.
The white varieties include Arinto, Fernão Pires, Seara Nova, and Chardonnay

How can I buy the wines online? How can I order the wine?

To buy our wines online, simply browse our page, select the wines and quantities you want, and send an email to encomendas@sartal.pt with your shipping address and billing details.

What are the available prices and payment methods?

The prices of the products shown already include VAT. The "At Customer's Home" prices are final prices, already include discounts, shipping costs for mainland Portugal and VAT. Promotions carried out on the website are not applied in the physical store (Adega da Quinta da Vassala).
Prices available on the website may be changed without prior notice and are always subject to stock availability.
Payment is made in advance, by bank transfer. IBAN PT50 0098 5110 0000 0013 4543 0 (VASSALA WINES). After payment, you must send proof by email so that we can start the shipping process.
The user has 48 hours to make the payment. If payment is not made within this period, the order will be cancelled.
Do you deliver nationwide?

The prices shown on our website are for mainland Portugal. If you are outside mainland Portugal, please contact us to find out more about deliveries to the islands or international deliveries.
How long does wine delivery take?

Orders will only be shipped after stock and payment confirmation (proof of payment to be sent via email to encomendas@sartal.pt)
Delivery times vary depending on your location. Typically, deliveries within mainland Portugal take between 3 to 5 business days. Our team does its best to ensure your wines arrive as quickly as possible and in perfect condition.
Shipments are only made on business days. Therefore, weekends and public holidays are not counted in the estimated delivery time for orders.
Orders will be delivered to the address indicated by the customer in the order email.
All orders shipped by Vassala Wines must be examined by the customer upon receipt. If any irregularity or damage to the product is detected, the customer must return it to the carrier, state the reason for the return on the waybill, and immediately inform Vassala Wines via email at encomendas@sartal.pt with photographs of the product damage.
Can I return the product?

Vassala Wines allows product returns within 14 days. However, upon return, the product must remain intact (including product packaging, labels, and back labels), otherwise, the return will be invalid. For any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us: encomendas@sartal.pt

Product availability?

Vassala Wines will honour orders received by email up to the limit of available stock and undertakes to deliver the ordered items as quickly as possible. Should the product not be available, Vassala Wines will contact the customer to inquire if they wish to receive a refund or exchange the product for another one.
Can I buy in bulk for events or corporate gifts?

Yes, we offer the option to place bulk orders for events, weddings, or corporate gifts. Please contact us to learn more about our bulk order options.

About Quality and Safety

Do wines have allergens?

Our wines contain sulphites, a natural substance used in the preservation process. For more information about allergens or other ingredients, please consult the bottle labels or contact us directly.
What do I do if the wine arrives broken or damaged?

We are immediately available to solve the problem if your order arrives in poor condition. Please contact us immediately, documenting with photographs for insurance purposes.
